01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Hanging its shop curtain along a Yushima street corner, Sushi Izu is an unpretentious neighborhood sushi parlor offering authentic sushi without any stiff formality. Inside, counter and table seating provide a calm, warm setting suited to dining solo or catching up over conversation with companions.

The menu features cleanly structured nigiri sets, ranging from Jo (premium) and Tokusen (special selection) to the seasonal omakase set featuring 12 pieces of seasonal seafood alongside sushi rolls. Modestly sized vinegared rice cushions thoughtfully prepared toppings, letting the clean flavors of each fish come to the fore. At lunchtime, diners can also savor high-quality seafood with ease through reasonably priced nigiri and tekka-ju tuna bowls.

For an evening visit, a natural way to start is with an assortment of seasonal sashimi alongside draft beer or sake. Full-course options also trace from sakizuke appetizers through grilled and steamed dishes to nigiri, making the restaurant well suited to settled, unhurried meals. Accompanied by the chef's affable hospitality, it offers an easygoing space to enjoy your favorite nigiri and a drink at your own pace.
